  6. INTRODUCTION:
  7.      Welcome to Slots Online! This is a simple slot machine simulation
  8.      program for Second Sight, Red Ryder Host, WWIV, and Mansion bulletin
  9.      board programs, which allows your users to play a simulated slot
  10.      machine and compete to see who can get the top slots score.
  11.  
  12.      Slots is significantly loaded toward the user. If anyone has any
  13.      particular odds they'd like for certain patterns, or their own set,
  14.      simply give me the odds for each pattern, the payoff, what screen
  15.      they'd like displayed, any other comments, or whatever and I'd be
  16.      happy to make a custom Slots door for your bbs.

  18. INSTALLATION:
  19.      The steps to installation are simple.  Follow the steps outlined below:
  20.        •  Using the New Folder menu choice in the Finder, or an equivalent,
  21.           create a folder for the Slots support files.
  22.        •  Copy the Slots application to the same folder as your
  23.           bulletin board.
  24.        •  In your host bbs application, set up a menu choice where you want
  25.           to run an external application, in this case Slots.  In Red
  26.           Ryder Host this is done with MenuEdit (for more in-detail help,
  27.           please refer to your Host manual).  In Mansion, this is done
  28.           through the built-in menu editor.  In the WWIV system, pressing
  29.           the proper key while waiting for a call will bring you to the
  30.           external application setup.
  31.        •  Run your bulletin board, and launch Slots  This will allow
  32.           you to enter the correct pathnames via a dialog box, as well as
  33.           giving you the option of a log file or no log file (marking when
  34.           people have entered or exited Slots).  Setup and running the
  35.           application work ONLY if you launch from your bulletin board
  36.           application, otherwise Slots does not find the "Launch BBS"
  37.           or corresponding file (depending on which bbs program you are
  38.           using) that it requires to work correctly.  If you need to re-
  39.           configure the Slots data after moving your bbs application or
  40.           the folders, it is easiest to open your System Folder and drag
  41.           the "Slots Options" file to the trash.
  42.        •  Quit from Slots and your bulletin board will now be able to
  43.           run the external door.
  44. OTHER INFO:
  45.      If you are running under multifinder, select the "No Local Echo" in the
  46.      sysop menus, and the window will not appear.

  48.      The program creates a "Slots Scores" text file which you can use
  49.      as a routinely updated text file for display in Red Ryder Host, WWIV,
  50.      or Mansion as a standard text file.  It exists in the Slots path 
  51.      you have designated.

  56. SHAREWARE FEES:
  57.      As a reminder, THIS IS SHAREWARE.  I know how you don't like to spend
  58.      too much money running an expensive phone line, board software, and
  59.      occupying a mac all day, but I consider bulletin board sysops to be of
  60.      a higher nature than most users.  Which means (if you haven't already)
  61.      you will find it in your hearts to send me (Benjamin Kuo, write that
  62.      name on the check, please), a lousy $10.

  64.      The author reserves all rights to the program.  Local
  65.      bulletin boards may distribute this program with the documentation, in
  66.      StuffIt format, freely, providing that they do not gain any renumeration
  67.      besides the operating costs.  This program may not be distributed with any
  68.      commercial software without the author's written permission.  User groups 
  69.      are free to distribute the program in monthly disks and to include the
  70.      program on any CD-ROM (such as BMUG's PD-ROM) or public domain library,
  71.      as long as there is no charge beyond costs of media.  Public domain 
  72.      distribution companies, including EDUCOMP, PD•EXCHANGE, and so-called
  73.      "National User Groups" MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE or SELL this program in any way,
  74.      without the express written permission of the author.
